‘Battle of Britain’ is a stylish and unique silk pocket square with hand-sewn hem. It was created using artist Paul Nash's famous 'Battle of Britain' painting and is presented in a complimentary gift box. Made in England. Printed and manufactured with hand-finishing in Macclesfield Cheshire, the traditional home of English silk printing.  Design & Inspiration  'Battle of Britain’ is a stylish and unique full-size silk pocket square and has been created using the famous aerial combat painting, 'Battle of Britain', by celebrated artist Paul Nash (1889-1946) in collaboration the Imperial War Museums (IWM). Nash had wide-ranging artistic and literary talents and was one of the most significant landscape painters of the first half of the 20th century. He is often remembered as a surrealist and war artist of both World Wars. Dating from 1941, Nash’s original work was painted in oil on canvas and was one of four large works on the theme of aerial conflict commissioned from him by the War Artists’ Advisory Committee. The Chairman of the Committee, Kenneth Clark, recognised the allegorical nature of the painting, where it appears that defences rise out of the English landscape and attackers plummet to the earth that has defeated them. The artwork is reproduced with a good balance of colour between the printed and reverse sides of the silk pocket square so works perfectly with any pocket square fold. The image is framed by the pocket square’s lilac blue border and cloud white hand-rolled & hand-sewn hem. 'Battle of Britain' is presented in a complimentary branded gift box with its blueberry-coloured lid and pale blue base. It was created in collaboration with artist Miki de Goodaboom and is presented in a complimentary gift box.  Made in England; printed and manufactured with hand-finishing in Macclesfield Cheshire, the traditional home of English silk printing.  Design & Inspiration ‘Tennis Passion’ is a stylish and unique full-size silk pocket square and has been created in collaboration with contemporary French artist Miki de Goodaboom. She loves to paint everything, with every technique from traditional through to digital and sometimes mixing them all. Miki particularly enjoys sporting art with its challenges of capturing movement as well as time and space in two-dimensional form. Above all else, Miki’s painting reflects her life, in particular the use of vibrant colours expressing her passion for life. Miki’s original is a mixed media/mixed technique artwork. ‘Tennis Passion’ was inspired by Grand Slam tennis and the individual fight of the players, both mentally and physically, to get over the line, often distilled into that one shot, the one that matters. The artwork is reproduced with a good balance of colour between the printed and reverse sides of the silk pocket square so works perfectly with any pocket square fold. 'The Football Match' is a stylish and unique silk pocket square with hand-sewn hem. It was created using artist Roy de Maistre's rugby football painting 'The Football Match' and is presented in a complimentary gift box.  Made in England; printed and manufactured with hand-finishing in Macclesfield Cheshire, the traditional home of English silk printing.  Design & Inspiration 'The Football Match' is a stylish and unique full-size silk pocket square and has been created using the rugby football painting 'The Football Match' by Australian modernist artist Roy de Maistre CBE in collaboration with its owner, the Janet Holmes à Court Collection in Perth, and Roy de Maistre's Estate. De Maistre (1894-1968) was a pioneer of modern Australian art; he experimented with linking colours of the spectrum to notes of the musical scale, 'colour-music', and he was recognised as the first Australian artist to use pure abstraction. Works produced following his permanent move to London in 1930 were in a figurative style and based on his interpretation of Cubism. De Maistre's original oil on canvas rugby work was painted in 1938. Little known today is that from 1912 to 1948 the Olympic Games awarded medals for art and literature about sport and 'The Football Match' was submitted for the 1948 London Summer Olympics, representing Great Britain.  The artwork is reproduced with a good balance of colour between the printed and reverse sides of the silk pocket square so works perfectly with any pocket square fold.
